2024 Outlook:

The Wildcats will have a new look this fall with the departure of Cary Drake and Molly Kenealy to graduation but don't count out the Wildcats this fall as they look to make it three Class B titles in a row. Madelyn Hutchins is the top returner after placing ninth a season ago and had a strong indoor season that saw her finish 4th in the mile and 3rd in the 2 mile at the B state meet. Karianna Hultstrom was 16th at states in 2023 and was the B runner-up in the outdoor 300m hurdles.York still has the quality and with added newcomers, and improvement from others figures to be one of the top teams in the state in 2024.

Coach Fergus Cullen Comments:

After graduating its top two runners who led the York girls to back-to-back Class B titles in 2022 and 2023, one might expect something of a rebuilding year for the York girls. The departure of two-time individual champion Cary Drake and bestie Molly Kenealy does mean it will be a different team this year, but the York cupboard is not bare. York returns the rest of its top seven and a core group of juniors led by Madelyn Hutchins (9th in Class B as a sophomore), Karianna Hultstrom (16th), and Madelyn Herman (31st), who had a strong outdoor track season. Senior Audrey Drennan and sophomore Kaitlyn Bloomer should also be scoring for York this year. Add a couple of cross-country newcomers who look ticketed to end up somewhere in the varsity top seven and York should be a competitive team again.
