2024 Outlook

Freeport finished fifth in Class B state meet last fall, and returns a bulk of that team this fall. They gave us a glimpse of what we may see this fall with a dominating performance at the Falcon 4k where they took the top five of the top seven spots. Lucy Huggett leads the way and is an individual title threat. Hall and Oshetski provide quality behind her and expect Spaulding and newcomer Esther Penny to give the Falcons great depth. Freeport has the quality to challenge for the B team title this fall and should be one of the top overall teams in the state.

Coach Matt Greear Comments:

Summer training went well. Between team runs, running groups, and going for runs with teammates individually, the team is primed to enter the season and start strong. My expectations are to see improvement for all runners, compete in meets, and be competitive at states. It's a great group of student-athletes and I'm really looking forward to every aspect of the season, and enjoying our time together. As of right now, the big addition would be senior Esther Penney, she has competed in indoor and outdoor track in the 800 and 1600 and figures to help the girl's team.
