Vandongen had an excellent junior season in 2023. She won the Northern Maine Regional title and was the Class B state runner-up. Amelia had her best race of the season at the New England Championship, earning All-New England honors with her 33rd-place effort of 18:46.13. Vandongen won the Class B state meet 800m during the indoor season with a personal best of 2:14.83. Hopefully, Amelia is healthy this fall, when healthy she is one of the best runners regardless of class in the state.
