Getting to Know Ethan
How has your summer training gone? Approximately how many miles have you logged?
My summer training has gone very well, I've clocked in around 50 miles a week with a lighter workout incorporated. I feel this mileage will effectively bring my endurance up to XC standards while retaining some speed and strength in these small workouts without experiencing burnout.
What are you looking forward to during the 2024 XC season?
This season I look forward to personally breaking 16 in the 5k, as well as the state meet in which the Scarborough team has a great shot at winning.
What are your goals for the season?
My goals this season are to break 16 in the 5k and to feel my best when states comes around to place as high as I can for my team.
Biggest takeaway from the 2023 XC Season?
My biggest takeaway from the last XC season was that speed can be a huge factor in important races, as I was out kicked by several runners in the last state meet who had built up more speed throughout the season.
What's the best piece of advice you've gained from your coaches?
The best piece of advice I have gained from my coaches has been that although training extremely hard with high mileage during the summer and early season will get you faster results, you will be likely to fade as the season progresses and will not be in your peak condition at important conference meets.
