2012-13 Indoor Track Event Previews: Pole Vault
Class A
There are only 4 returners that met the state qualifying standard of 11-0 back in 2013. They are led by defending indoor state champion Alec James of Scarborough who will be looking to add another individual pole vault title to the long list at Scarborough HS. James jumped 12-6 to win last winter, he jumped the same height to finish 4th in the outdoor meet. Indoor & Outdoor state riunner-up Joe Hayden of Brewer is back looking to move up to the top spot in 2013. Gorham's Alex Johnson placed 4th last winter, while Jodran Trafford of Bonny Eagle finished 6th. Trafford also placed 6th in the outdoor state meet. The other returning scorers are Troy Lambert of Gorham who tied for 7th with Brandon Binnette of Edward Little last year.

Class B
2012 state champion Devin Burgess of Waterville returns in 2013 looking to repeat. Burgess jumped a state best 13-0 last winter, he went on to win the outdoor state meet with a jump of 13-6. State runner-up David Frederick of Orono returns as well his best last winter was 12-6, he would go on to finish 2nd in the Class C state meet but had a huge breakthrough at the New England championship where he jumped 13-9 to finish on the pdoium in 4th. Hermon's Nick Carle jumped to a 5th place finish last winter,, and then during outdoors finished 6th. Thomas Robichaud of Yarmouth is the other returning scorer, he placed 7th a year ago.
