Class A State Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet Preview
The postseason is officially here! The Northern and Southern Regional championships went off on Saturday. The North headed to Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast, while the South went to the Twinbrook Recreational area in Cumberland. Both regions produced close finishes and great individual performances. Let's take a look at the highlights.
Conference championships around the state highlighted the weekend in Maine XC. We had several of the top teams in the state battle it out at the KVAC Championships, while some of the top runners rested for the WMC Championships. A course record went down in the PVC and there were dominant team finishes in the MVC. Let's take a look at the highlights.
In Class A, Camden Hills takes the team title over Mt. Ararat with a 15 point margin. But in Class B Maranacook wins handily. Individual titles go to Garace Iltis of Camden and Olivia Tiner of Winslow.
Hampden, led by Wyatt Lord, gets by Bangor in the KVAC Boys Class A Championship. Mt. Ararat is third, but the Eagle's Lisandro Berry-Gaviria takes the individual title.In Class B, Lincoln Academy ran away with the title led by individual champion Sam Russ.
It will be a tough battle between Camden Hills and Mt. Ararat for the girls' Class A team title. In Class B Maranacook should take the crown.
Another weekend is in the books for Maine XC. Relays and invitationals brought together some of the top teams and athletes in the Northern region, while inter-conference battles in the Southern region produced fast times and impressive team results. Let's take a look at the highlights.
65 Maine schools and nearly 15 out-of-state schools will make the trip to Belfast on Saturday to run in the 16th annual Festival of Champions at Troy Howard Middle School.

In a girls's race where leaders got far of course Camden Hills showed real depth to take a team win. Hamden showed speed in the boys race taking the top two spots by solid margins and securing the team win.
This weekend in Maine XC featured two of the top girls' teams in Class A squaring off in Falmouth and two of the top male runners in Class A North facing off for the second time and three weeks.
As part of our 2016 XC preview we will spotlight each of the fastest returners based on 5k times from a year ago as part of our "Watch list". Today's spotlight is Jacob Gamache of Edward Little HS
In the coming weeks many of our seniors will head out to start their college careers both athletically and academically. We wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature and say thank you.
The Edward Little girls captured the Class A title with a win in the 4x200m, while the Scarborough Boys are back on top with a 29 win over Falmouth.
We've scored out the Class A State Meet to see who the early team favorites our as we head into January.
We've gone through all the events, and ranked the top 10 teams based on team depth for all individual events indoors & outdoors. We combined those results to find out what programs stand above the rest.

Edward Little's Spencer Dunn just 3rd in the Class A state meet last week bounced back to win the boys 1600m racewalk national championship at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, Dunn covered the distance in 7:10.44. Check out the rest of the action from day 1.
The Brunswick girls won the KVAC Class A crown over Messalonskee while the Waterville girls were tops in Class B again. On the boys side Edward Little pulled out the win over Lewiston while in Class B Waterville had no match. Check out the rest of the action
It was a great 2012-2013 in both cross country and track across the Great State of Maine. Many of our seniors will soon be on their way to start their college careers both athletically and academically so we wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature.
The Lawrence girls won their first ever KVAC Class A title, as the Bulldogs scored 127 to outdistance Edward Little 104. On the boys side Edward Little made it 10 conference titles in a row as they fought on a valiant effort from Lawrence who finished just 4.5 points of the Red Eddies. Check out more.

First, the former: The Edward Little boys' track and field team is favored to win the KVAC outdoor championship Monday for the 10th consecutive year. The Maine Running Company Outdoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #2. On the girls side Teal Jackson of Brewer took home the honors, while the boys winner was Luc Bourget of Edward Little.
Bethanie Brown destroyed her personal best en route to the fastest 3200m ever run by a Maine HS girl. Brown covered the 8 lap race in a record 10:13.90. The mark took an amazing 5.19 seconds of the former record of Abbey Leonardi. The mark currently ranks Brown #5 nationally. Check out more.

The Maine Running Company Indoor Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #4. On the girls side new state record holder in the long jump, Kate Hall of Lake Region was selected as the winner for her outstanding 18-0 1/2 jump, while the boys winners was Connor Harris of Edward Little who jumped a state leading 6-6 in the high jump.

Waterville's Bethanie Brown added her name to the record brooks once again with a 7th place finish in the 5k at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. Brown clocked 17:11.13, which bettered the previous record of Erica Jesseman by 40 seconds

The Maine Running Company Indoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #4. On the girls side standout sprinter Alexis Dickinson (Brunswick) took top honors dominating the voting with over 60%.Dickinson clocked a vlazing 7.31 in the 55m dash, good for a new state leader & NBIN qualifier, additionally she added the ME#2 time for 200m 26.39. Alexis who is the defending Class A champion at 55m, looks to be rounding into top form as the championship meets approach. On the boys side Edward Little star Connor Harris was selected based on his huge 45-4 ME#1/US #46 jump, as well as a state leading 6-4 clearance in the HJ. Both of Harris's marks qualify him for the NBIN championship, as well as both being indoor personal best in both events. Connor who placed 2nd in the HJ in the state last winter looks primed to stand atop the podium at least once this year.

There were 4 new state leaders at Bowdoin College today during the KVAC regular season week #2 meets. Leading the way was Jaclyn Masters of Edward Little who nothced two new state bests, first with her 10-6 clearance in the pole vault, 7 again with her 27.07 clocking for the one lap 200m, also in the girls meet Winslow sprinter Alliyah Veilleux lowered the state leader in the 55m to 7.50. Faisal Noor (EL) blitzed his home course, covering the 5k course in a swift 16:35.53 to win by 10 seconds by Mt. Ararat's Andy Reifman-Packett. Noor led the #10 ranked Red Eddies over the #7 Eagles 36-40. On the girls side #3 ranked Mt. Ararat easily won the team race win 20 points.
