Bangor Girls 3-Peat, Brunswick Boys Best in Class A


The Brunswick Dragons day got off to an auspicious start as the top seed in the pole vault Thomas McCormack had an unfortunate no height. After that though the Dragons wouldn't be denied led by their seniors as they entered the final event with a seven point lead over Falmouth and sealed the meet with a third place finish in the 4x400m relay.

The 4x800 relay got things back on track for the Dragons as they cruised to victory in 8:15.77.


In one of the biggest upset of the meet senior Luke Patterson battled to the line in the 300m hurdles to snatch victory in a personal best 39.54 to give the Dragons ten important points. Patterson also placed third in the triple jump (43-1 1/4) and fourth in the 110m hurdles (15.86).

The 800m was a key event for the Dragons as senior Miles Logan set a new personal best of 1:57.21 to finish as the runner-up while teammate Eli Palmer ran a negative split to come up for third place in 1:58.76.

Sophomore Justin Corporon provided some key points in the sprints. Corporon finished fifth in the 100m (11.26) and then came up big in the 200m securing a fourth place finish (22.82) by winning section three.

The Marshwood sprint duo of sophomore Andre Clark and Rowan Carter had a strong day. Clark won the 100m in less than ideal conditions as he stormed across the line in 11.11. Carter would dominate the 200m as he ran away from the field over the last 50 meters clocking 22.18. Clark was the runner-up in 22.71. The duo teamed up in the 4x100 to bring the Hawks to victory as they clocked 43.40.

Senior Miles Gay of Falmouth used his typical come from behind style to post a new personal best of 49.0 to win the 400. The time was equal to the sixth fastest in state history. Gay would later come from behind again this time in the 4x400m to bring the Navigators to victory in 3:26.94.


Noble distance runner Maddox Jordan showed he was the one to beat in the 800m & 1600m as he defended his titles from the indoor season with personal best efforts. In the 1600m, Jordan controlled the race early taking the field through 800m in 2:08.65. Charlie Collins of Hampden Academy took over and pushed the pace on the third lap which was run in 62.16. Collins continue to lead until 200m to go as Jordan ramped up his kick and coming off the final turn found another gear to clock 61.84 for his final lap to finish in 4:12.72. Jordan covered his final 800m in 2:04.09, while his time was the ninth fastest in state history. In the 800m Jordan ran up front covering the first 400m in 57.58 before pulling away from the field over the last 150m to clock a personal nest 1:56.18.

Collins would come back strong in the 3200m as he followed the pace set by Scarborough's Adam Bendetson before pulling away over the last 600m of the race including a final lap of 61.96 to clock a new Class A state meet record of 9:12.99, the time is the ninth fastest in state history.

In the 110m hurdles Bonny Eagle senior Ethan Kane ran a personal best of 14.67 to win despite the rainy and slick conditions. The time equal the 10th best effort in state history and tied the Scots school record. Rowan McDonald of Bonny Eagle took the race walk title easily winning in 7:17.92.

The high jump was one of the best competitions all day as Gorham sophomore Griffin Gammon and Falmouth senior Judd Armstrong battled again as both cleared 6-6. Armstrong would end up the winner as he won the jump off clearing 6-5.


Skowhegan junior Billy Albertson was a double winner in the jumps as he took the long jump (20-10 3/4) and the triple jump (44-1 3/4).

Thornton Academy junior Caden True won the javelin with a toss of 168-8 while Tucker Walker of Sanford won the discus on his final throw with a toss of 150-6 as he moved from third to first. In the shot put Brewer's Colby Largay came out on top with his first throw of 48-3 1/2.
