MRC Performance of the Week: Bethanie Brown & Josef Holt-Andrews

There was no need to have a vote this week as the Maine Running Company Performance of the Week goes to the best Maine runners at last weekend's Festival of Champions XC.

On the boys side Telstar junior Josef Holt-Andrews took up the early pacing duties to ensure the pace would be fast. Andrews cruised through the mile in 4:45. While Josef would finish

3rd overall, he did clock 15:59.89 good for the 10th fastest time in meet history. Holt was 15 second better than the next Maine runner Jack Pierce, and also the #16 fastest all time on

the Belfast course. With the state meet on the same course look for Holt-Andrews to have a shot to improve in 4 weeks.

On the girls side Waterville senior Bethanie Brown crushed the field at the Festival of Champions on her way to setting a new course record of 17:56.69. Brown dominated the field from

the beginning as she took the pace out hard covering the first mile in a blistering 5:15.  The mark also moved her up the all-time list on the Belfast course to #5 fastest in history. The

course record might not last the season if the weather cooperates as Bethanie will have 2 more shots to get the mark of 17:48 held by Cassie Hintz (Old Town). This is the 3rd time this

fall that she has won the "Performance of the Week" award.

Congratulations to both Bethanie & Josef on being selected as the Maine Running Company Performance of the Week
