With 3 time champion Matt McClintock graduated there will be a new individual champion in Class C. The battle for the top spot should be a good one as two of state's top runners are back looking for that title. Leading the way is last year's 3rd place finisher Josef Andrews of Telstar. Andrews ran under 17:00 in tough conditions last fall, he went on the finish 28th at the New England Championships. Josef had a strong outdoor season 4:26.19 in the 1600m & 9:42.44 for the 3200m. The runner expected to be right with Andrews is Jack Pierce of Merriconeag Waldorf. Pierce finished in 4th last fall & finished 32nd in the New England Championships. Jack doesn't run track but his summer road racing performances indicate his summer training is going very well, he was the top HS runner in the Yarmouth Clam Festival 5 miler running 26:45. Forrest Carle of Calais is the #3 returner. Carle ran 17:40 last fall to finish 8th overall. Waynflete's Josh Espy is the #4 returner, Espy finished 12th overall last fall. Orono's Tyler White is the 5th fastest returner, White was 14th last fall. Tyler put together some very strong track times this past year including a 10:06.21 for 3200, and looks primed to be one of top runners this fall.
