The Falmouth Yacthsmen girls return a strong squad in 2012 that was the Western Maine Regional runner-up a year ago. Falmouth has several top runners back including top 2011 state meet finisher Madeline Roberts who placed 29th. If the Yachstmen can stay healthy something that plagued them last year they should be one of the top teams in Western Maine once again.
The last top 3 finish at states was 5 years for Falmouth. Coach Kurry & Paul think if the team can peak at the right time a top 3 finish at the state meet is possible. For that to happen they will need seniors Abby Payson, Molly Ryan & Hayley Simmons to show leadership throughout the season & use their experience in big meets.
Coach Kurry & Paul say....
The girls return many runners who have been in the top 7 over the past couple years and are healthier than we have been in recent years. They are aiming to peak well this season and show what they are capable of. Training and racing as a team are the goals of the season.
Madeline Roberts will be a strong frontrunner and we have good depth with Abby Payson, Molly Ryan, Summer Greenwood, Meg Palombo and Hayley Simmons all having run in the top-5 at various times in the past. Denali Nalamalapu is healthy and looking to translate her track strength to the trails.
Top newcomers: senior Geneva Waite, junior Rachel Simonds (a few more may emerge in coming days)
The girls would like to repeat their strong finish at the Festival of Champions and race well at the state meet. A top-3 finish is possible if they run to their ability.
