Three in a row, that's what Washburn junior Carsyn Koch will be shooting for this fall as she attempts to win her 3rd straight Class C XC title. Koch has run away win the championship races the last two years winning by over 30 seconds each time out. She showed she can run with the top girls in New England as she just missed the top 25 with a 26th place finish last fall. Carsyn showed she's ready to run even faster after a strong outdoor season that saw her run personal bests for 1600m (5:11.63) & 800m (2:21.3). Boothbay's Sophie Thayer had a strong state meet last fall and she returns as the 2nd fastest in 2012, Thayer ran 21:01.55 last year in the mud to finish 3rd. Senior Martha Veroneau of Waynflete has been one of the top runners in Class C the past 3 years including a state title her freshman year. Last fall Martha finished 4th overall, she had very strong basketbal & lacrosse season this winter/spring. The 4th fastest returner from the state meet last fall is Natalie Bolduc of Dirigo. Bolduc finished 5th overall last year, and outdoor she ran to an 8th place finish in the 3200m (12:25.14). Bronte Elias of Madison rounds out the top 5 returners, as a freshman she placed 6th overall last fall. Elias ran a best of 5:52.12 for 1600m outdoors.
