2012 XC Top Returners Statewide #7
Mohamed Barre (Sr. Lewiston) Barre established himself as one of the top runners in the state last fall earning a 7th place finish in the Class A state meet, running 17:27.44. Mohamed went on to finish 68th in the NE Chmapionship running a personal best 16:52 for 5k. Barre had a strong showing during the indoor/outdoor track season, running 4:26.74 (4th) & 9:47.51 (3rd) at the outdoor state meet. Indoor Mohamed placed 2nd in the 2 mile & 3rd in the mile. Barre showed great improvement from sophomore year to junior where he finished 52nd in the state meet two years while finishing 7th a year ago. Can Barre win it all this fall, don't count him out.

Carsyn Koch (Jr. Washburn) Koch won her 2nd straight Class C state title last fall as she easly handled the competition. Carsyn then went on to have a great effort at the NE Championship where she finished 26th in a new personal best 19:11, she just missed ALL-NE honors by one spot. If Koch can win a 3rd title this fall she'll join some exclusive company in state history. Koch had more success during the outdoor season as she won Class C titles at 1600m & 800m as she ran personal best in both events 5:11.63 & 2:21.3
