The two time defending Class A champion Scarborough Red Storm are loaded once again as they aim for their 3rd title in a row. Winning has become tradition for the Red Storm since moving to Class A in 2003 they have won 6 state titles during that time frame. While they graduated 2 time defending Class A individual winner Nick Morris, plus 2 others from the top 7 (Wout Moulin & Mike Tudor), the Red Storm won't be rebuilding they have just reloaded. Look for seniors Robby Hall & Jack Sulivan to provide the leadership & work ethic to continue the success of the program. Scarborough has plenty of talent back, and the team is hungry to once again claim the top spot, they are coming off a strong summer of training evidenced by 5 guys under 38 minutes in the Beach to Beacon. While Hall, Sullivan, Ian Morris (brother of Nick) & Jacob Terry are back from the top 7, the Storm should get a boost from the return of Sean McGovern (injury last year), as well as the emergence of junior Matt Aceto on the track this spring. If Scarborough wins again it will be the 4th title in 5 years!
Coach Harmon says....
The team is looking good this year, but we did lose Nick Morris, Wout Moulin, Mike Tudor and Ethan Law to graduation so the rest of the runners do have some big shoes to fill. Right now everyone seems healthy, but as you know from outdoor that can all change quickly.
Right now our only new runner that might contribute is Andrew Sholl. He's good and could be in the top 7, but if the rest of the guys do stay healthy that might be tough. Sean McGovern is healthy and that should help us. With Robby Hall, Ian Morris, Jack Sullivan, Sean McGovern, Matt Aceto, Jacob Terry, Sam Terry, Alex Karam, Alec James, Sam Freeman, Will Fowler, Andrew Sholl and others all shooting for the top 7 spots we should look good for the championship meets, but again the key will be avoiding injuries and staying healthy.
Our goal as usual will be to make it to the State Meet and do the best we possibly can there. (I think we'll also focus on the FOC Meet.) The New Englands would be a bonus, but we're not concerned with that yet.
