The top returning team in Class B according to the top 5k times from 2011 is the Ellsworth Eagles. Ellsworth is looking to return to the top of Class B for the first time since 1998, the Eagles will be led by individual title threat Dan Curts. Coach Beardley is optmistic of his teams chances as they return 5 of the top 7 from a team that finished 7th in the state meet. Look for a healthy Derek Hawes to make an immediate impact, he missed a significant amount of time due to illness last year, and had a strong outdoor season that saw him run 4:47/10:58. Another runner to watch for the Eagles is Robert Looker who had a breakout spring in the 3200m (10:22).They'll have their hands full with EM rival Caribou who edged them by 4 points last fall, and returns a strong squad once again. If they can stay healthy Ellsworth will once again be one of the top teams in the Eastern Maine regional (they have placed 2nd 4 out of the last 5 years), and challenge for the state title.

As always our boys team is hoping to do well this season. We want to do well at Eastern Maines and qualify for the state meet. Our boys team returns 5 of our top 7 from last year and we have a few untested freshman on the team. With a long season ahead of us , one of the goals is to try and stay healthy and be ready for the big meets at the end of the season
