Each week MaineTrackXC will post several top performances for each gender, and let the fans decide who is worthy of the Maine Running Company Performance of the Week by casting their vote. Each week on Monday the top performances will be posted undet the "Discussion board" link on the homepage, their will be a topic link called ie. "Boys Performance of the Week January 9th-15th" , click on it to see your choices and then cast your vote. In order to vote you must be logged into the site with a user, if you don't have one already sign up for one so you can support the great athletic accomplishments of those in the running.</p>

Defending indoor 400m champion Alex Nichols of Brunswick opened his season with a blistering 51.24 effort over the 2 lap distance. Nichols who ran 51.05 to win the state meet a year ago is in late season form to open the season. Alex who has his sites set on breaking the Maine indoor all-time best of 49.93 this year. Currently Nichols is ranked #9 in the country for 400m distance. In the same meet Alex added the #1 time in the 200m, 23.27.
On the girls side Anna Cowan of Brunswick receieved 13 votes to edge Thornton Academy's Charlotte Pierce. Cowan ran 2:29.08 in the 800m, the #2 time in the state this winter so far. She also ran a leg on a strong 4x800 effort (10:22.74). Anna finished 7th in the Class A indoor 800m race last winter running her personal best of 2:24.42.
