MRC PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK: Aleta Looker & Alex Nichols Derek Veilleux Jan 31, 2013

The Maine Running Company Indoor Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #7. On the girls side Ellsworth's Aleta Looker took top honors with her state leading 800m 2:18.10, on the boys side Brunswick's Alex Nichols was the unanimous winner with his 50.14 state leading 400m performance.

The Maine Running Company Indoor Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #5. On the girls side new state record holder in the 400m, Teal Jackson of  Brewer was selected as the winner for her outstanding 57.85 while the boys winners was new SMAA SR 400M record holder James Campbell of Cheverus who ran 51.70.

The Maine Running Company Indoor Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #4. On the girls side new state record holder in the long jump, Kate Hall of Lake Region was selected as the winner for her outstanding 18-0 1/2 jump, while the boys winners was Connor Harris of Edward Little who jumped a state leading 6-6 in the high jump.

Performances of the Week: Bethanie Brown & Harlow Ladd Derek Veilleux Feb 15, 2012

The Maine Running Company Indoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #6. On the girls side distance ace  Bethanie Brown (Waterville) received 35.71% of the vote. Brown won both the 800m (2:17.33 ) & Mile (5:08.09_ to win KVAC class B titles, and in the process set league records in both. Bethanie currently holds the top times in the state for 800m, mile & 2 mile. Nationally she is ranked #1 in the 2 mile (10:48.35). At the state she will compete in distance triple as she aims to lead her team to the state title.  On the boys side Messalonskee's Harlow Ladd the top distance runner in the state so far this winter was selected with 60% of the vote. Ladd won the mile & 2 mile while placing 2nd in the 800 at the KVAC Championship last week. Harlow clocked 2:02.76, 4:26.31 & 9:25.5. Harlow's time in the 2 mile improved his state leader & currently ranks him #16 in the country.

Performances of the Week: Sarah Perkins & Bryan White Derek Veilleux Feb 09, 2012

 

The Maine Running Company Indoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #5. On the girls side all around standout  Sarah Perkins (Gorham) took top honors by one vote. Perkins won 3 individual events (55 Hurdles, 200 & HJ) at the SMAA Southwesterns championships meet.  Sarah ran 8.68 to win the hurdles, she currently holds ME #1 in the event. In the 200m she was just off her league record and her own state leader with a 26.05, and she matched her own state leader in the HJ with a clearance of 5-2. Perkins has been dominate this season as evidenced by her 4 state leading performances. On the boys side Deering's shot put standout Bryan White was selected based on his huge throw of 53-10 3/4 which won the SMAA sr division title, and increased his own state leader. White has been the state leader all year long and currently ranks #47 nationally. White the defending Class A outdoor champion looks poised to repeat that feat indoor in 2 weeks.

Performances of the Week: Alexis Dickinson & Connor Harris Derek Veilleux Feb 02, 2012

The Maine Running Company Indoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #4. On the girls side standout sprinter Alexis Dickinson (Brunswick) took top honors dominating the voting with over 60%.Dickinson clocked a vlazing 7.31 in the 55m dash, good for a new state leader & NBIN qualifier, additionally she added the ME#2 time for 200m 26.39. Alexis who is the defending Class A champion at 55m, looks to be rounding into top form as the championship meets approach.   On the boys side Edward Little star Connor Harris was selected based on his huge 45-4 ME#1/US #46 jump, as well as a state leading 6-4 clearance in the HJ. Both of Harris's marks qualify him for the NBIN championship, as well as both being indoor personal best in both events. Connor who placed 2nd in the HJ in the state last winter looks primed to stand atop the podium at least once this year.

Performances of the Week: Tiffany Gray & Gorham 4x200 Derek Veilleux Jan 26, 2012

The Maine Running Company Indoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #3. On the girls side new PVC long jump record holder sophomore Tiffany Gray (Bangor)edged Sarah Perkins of Gorham by two votes to earn top honors. Gray popped off a huge personal best in the long jump 17-4 3/4, the mark broke the PVC league record held by former Brewer standout Jen Puiia by 1/2 foot. Tiffany is ranked #1 in the state in both the LJ & TJ. In the triple she hit a NBIN emerging elite mark of 36-0.   On the boys side for the first time a relay team was selected as the winner, the Gorham Boys 4x200 team of Ryan Baillargeon, Austin Bell, Brandon Cushman & Nate Bucknell set a new SMAA open 4x200 record with their state leading clocking on 1:35.22 in the final regular season meet of the SMAA season. Gorham has set the standard high in the 4x200 this season as they also have the fastest Jr. 4x200 & Sr. 4x200 Relay times heading into the Southwesterns in two weeks.

 

Performances of the Week: Kirstin Sandreuter & Harlow Ladd Derek Veilleux Jan 18, 2012

The Indoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #2. On the girls side US#6 ranked 2 Miler Kirstin Sandreuter of Greely edged Sarah Perkins of Gorham by one vote to earn top honors. On the boys sidelast week's runner-up Harlow Ladd behind his US #14 ranked mile was the boys selection. Read more..

The Indoor Track Performance of the Week voting is complete for week #1. On the girls side US#1 ranked 2 Miler Bethanie Brown of  Waterville garnered 62.6 5 of the vote to earn the honors. On the boys side it was a much closer vote as Miguel Caballero & Harlow Ladd were tied 32.56 % of the vote, I flipped a coin to decide the winner, & Miguel Caballero  is our boys selection in week one.
