Kate Hall of Lake Region has built an impressive resume as she enters her sophomore year. Hall added to that resume with her first all-time state best mark as she became the first Maine HS girl to break the 18ft barrier in the long jump last Friday night as she leapt 18-0 1/2. The mark broke the old standard by a little less than 4 inches, held by former Messalonskee standout Jesse Labreck. The mark ranks Kate 13th in the country entering this weekend's action. Hall also has state leading marks in the 55m, 7.30 and is ranked #2 in the state in the 200m.
Edward Little senior Connor Harris has been one of the top jumpers in the state since his freshman year. Harris had his best day in the high jump last week as he cleared a state leading and Edward Little school record 6-6. The jump has Connor ranked in a tie for 13th in the country. Harris is the top ranked triple jumper in Class A (41-10) & has also qualified for the state meet in the long jump (19-10). The vote was close this week with Harris edging out Devin Burgess of Waterville (14-0) pole vault & Dan Curts of Ellsworth by 1 vote to take the honor.
Congratulations to both Kate & Connor on being selected as the Maine Running Company Performance of the Week
