Inside Scoop: Falmouth Boys

The Falmouth High School boy's cross country team is coming off a state championship in 2011. The Yachtsmen dominated the competition last fall as the were clearly the best team in Class B as well as the entire state. There success was due in large part to the great leadership & ability of the class of 2012 led by Tim Follo. While they graduated 5 of their top 7 from a year ago, they still have talent and depth to contend in 2012. Falmouth who is guided by Coaches Jorma Kurry & Danny Paul are optimistic about their changes to make a run at a repeat, they will need senior Jay Lesser & sophomore Spencer Brown to raise their running to the next level. With a program that has close to 40 runners some one is sure to emerge out of a group that large to make an impact. Plus they had several runners who were on the jv tean that would have been on most teams varisty squad last fall. While they won't be the clear favorite like last year don't count out the Yatchsmen. Falmouth is a program that is storied in tradition, the last 4 years they have been 3rd or higher at the state meet.

Coach Kurry & Paul say....

"Our boys team graduated a lot of depth as well as one of our most consistent front runners ever. We will miss their leadership but we expect that the lessons learned by the underclassmen should help us succeed this season. The boys will still be relatively deep. Led by Jay Lesser, Spencer Brown and Scott Lambert, we are still in good position. Azad Jalali's healthy return could mean that we compete for the top spot again. Tristan Tucker & Eric Britton give us good depth.

Top newcomers: freshmen Josh Simensky and Sean Soucy

The boys will be keying on a top finish at the state meet and a return to New Englands. While we don't have the margin for error that last year's senior class provided, we have high aspirations still and if we stay healthy and train smart, we are optimistic."
