Could this be the year that the Massabesic Mustang girls finally take home the Class A team title? Massabesic has been the model of consistency the last 5 years, over that span they have been the Western Maine runner-up 5 straight times, as well as the top 4 in the state meet. It's hard to believe that it's been 5 years since the Mustangs had the Class A title won, only to have two athletes hold hands as they crossed the finish line which resulted in DQ.
Coach Crepeau is counting on his depth from last year along with some new incoming freshman to make an impact. With 5 of his top 7 back from a 3rd place team a year ago bodes well for the Mustangs this fall. Leading the way this fall with be Jocelyn Acheson & Gabby Johnson. Johnson placed 10th in the state meet last fall. Running well at the end of the year is tradition at Massabesic, 2012 should be no exception.
Coach Crepeau says....
"Our girls team also looks to be competitive again this year Our top 2 runners are back and look very strong due to a lot of work over the summer. Even though we lost some key personal due to graduation we had a lot of depth last year and many of those ladies are back again this year.
For the girls team we have two freshman who I believe will add a lot to the team and show a lot of promise as runners. Emily Wasina and Maquila Dimastrantonie.
Our goal is to preform well at the regionals and get qualified for the state meet. The top goal is to get qualified for the New England Championship Meet. We will do as we do each season and to build up for the end of the season meets."
