In its 29th year of honoring the nation's best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, today announced Kate Hall of Lake Region High School as its 2013-14 Gatorade Maine Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Hall is the first Gatorade Maine Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year to be chosen from Lake Region High School.

Kate Hall once again shines on the National stage as the junior from Lake Region smashes her Maine all-time best in the 100m with a 11.58 in the trials. She would run 11.45 in the final but the wind was 2.7, which is over the allowable limit for record purporses.

Kate Hall has already established herself as the greatest ever from the state of Maine in the long jump and 55 meter dash after winning performances of 19'11" (US #1) in the long jump and 7.01 in the 55 meter dash at last weekend's Rhode Island Classic to establish new Maine state indoor high school records in those events. After finishing 7th in the long jump at both the New Balance Indoor Nationals and New Balance Outdoor Nationals, the Lake Region junior Hall is looking to show her rare talent from the state of Maine beyond her state borders and beyond even the New England region to compete for All-American honors and national titles at season's end.

19-11 & 7.01 Kate Hall smashes Maine All-Time bests at RI Classic Derek Veilleux Dec 28, 2013

Kate Hall had another record breaking day as the junior smashed her week old Maine all-time best in the long jump with a winning leap of 19-11 at the Rhode Island Classic meet. The mark improved on her US #1 mark. Hall also added a state mark in 55m as she broke her state record of 7.07 in the trials of the 55m with a 7.05, before lowering it to 7.01 with a win in the finals. The 55m time is US #3.

Kate Hall of Lake Region opened up her 2013-14 indoor season with a new state indoor record in the long jump at the Bowdoin Relays. Hall, the current state record holder smashed her previous record of 18-6 1/2 with a huge 19-2 jump. The mark is further than her outdoor state record as well. The Waterville boys took the team title with 117 with Messalonskee in 2nd (87) & Brunswick (80) in 3rd. On the girls side Waterville girls held off a strong challenge from Messalonskee 106-97, Brunswick was 3rd with 88.

The Waterville girls cruised to a 7th staright Class B titles, while the Boys win as well to make it a sweep. Kate Hall of Lake Region broke the state meet record in the 100m, 12.12, and added a state all time best in the long jump 18-5 3/4. Bethanie Brown in the 800m, 2:16. Dan Curts of Ellsworth broke the 1600m record, 4:14.02, Nick Danner of Waterville broke the javelin record with a heave of 192-9

Falmouth Boys & Cape Girls open with WMC wins Derek Veilleux Sep 3, 2010

The Falmouth Boys opened with a 32-40 win over Cape Elizabeth at Gull Crest Field in Cape Elizabeth this afternoon in the WMC season opener. Falmouth was paced by race winner Tim Follo who ran 16:12 to hold off Cape's Thomas Bottomley (Both pictured left-photo by Beth Rand). On the girls side, Cape Elizabeth pulled put a 25-30 win over the visiting Yachtswomen. Cape senior Kelsey Barton won clokcing 19:40, the only girl under 20 minutes on the three mile course.
